Caren Florance has been, for some time now, playing under the name of Ampersand Duck
and working under the name of Letter Press,
but somehow doing everything under the umbrella
of &Duck makes it all a lot more fun.

Caren has degrees in English, Classics and Visual Arts. She works on screen, off screen, with paper and on paper and is not afraid to get her hands dirty -- but if they do have to be dirty, printing ink is her dirt of choice.

Caren's bookart work has exhibited all over Australia and occasionally internationally, and as a letterpress printer and visual arts technician she has the pleasure of working with many prominent and upcoming artists.

Ampersand Duck is now a variety of things, but essentially it is a private press, in the traditional sense that it produces book works for the fun of it, rather than for more commercial considerations. As a private press of a more contemporary nature, &Duck reserves the right to produce work across genres and media, from zines and blogs to chapbooks, broadsheets and fine press books. To see what's emerged and emerging, pop over to the Duckshop. You never know what you'll find.

Caren is also able to conduct workshops on letterpress (in studio) and bookarts (very mobile, can travel anywhere). The problem is, you've got to catch her first. There's only 24 hours in a day, etc.

If you would like to know more about Caren and Ampersand Duck, get in touch, explore this website, or click on the photo to download an abridged CV. Or read her blog.
