Elegy to Lost Time + Elegy to Lost Times. Oil on paper monoprint flutter books with solvent transfer text. 'Time' has a stiff cardboard cover. 'Times' is tied with video tape. Both versions in an edition of 5. Canberra: Edition Artist Book Studio, 2004. Price on Application.

I wanted to recycle a number of prints that I'd made. They were oil on paper monoprints with collage and solvent transfer. I cut and folded them into flutter books, which meant that they could be read as books but also hung as posters. I used photocopied text to make solvent transfers on the back of the prints. I first made five that read like a speculative fiction story about a future society trying to make sense of our time by looking at all the rubbish we left behind us. Then I took a break, and while sitting, thought of a different idea. So I made five more that were quite different, more emotional, more centred on ordinary actions that lost time in a day. A day like today. I like both versions, but I think the second one works better. So I've placed it first, below.
