Red
Wine, Red Roses Come and See! I
am Writing to You From [bits & pieces / early stuff] |
Inconsolable Jubilation. Unique book of solvent transfers and graphite drawings on black and white handmade paper. Coptic bound in acetate with waxed linen thread. c. 150 x 150 x 20mm. Canberra: Ampersand Duck, 2005. Created
for the exhibition Black
and White Books. I gave it the following
statement: It's
a very hard book to reproduce, as the drawings are graphite on hand-made
black paper. I made the book, then took it to my life drawing group
and drew in it. The group is made up of close friends from art school
(both male and female), and we'd take turns to model for each other
and while we drew we'd discuss our personal problems and relationships,
many of which were intertwined. So the drawings in the book are of my
friends at their most vulnerable, and accompanied by snatches of the
conversations, both happy and sad.
